We are looking for an experienced long-term technical buyer. Someone who dares to ask questions and thinks in terms of solutions. A person who takes responsibility and knows how to maintain both internal and external relationships. Are you this person? Then read on and apply!

What is the job about?

You will be working for our LAC (Lube oil Additives & Chemicals) department. Within this business unit we formulate and manufacture additives that improve the performance of lubricants and fuels.

You are responsible for all technical procurement. Of course, you have a lot of contacts with existing suppliers, but you also approach new suppliers and you are constantly looking for the best deal. You ensure that you are up to date with the latest developments in the market. You look at the total cost and value of the deal you make, both short and long term.

As a technical buyer at BRB you negotiate with suppliers and keep asking until you know all the details. How is the price break-down? What are the guarantees? etc. While always keeping the relationship in mind. The market we are in is comprising of limited number of global suppliers and you never know when you might need each other again.

During the week, you check whether all the agreements made have been met and if everything is going as agreed. If not, you do everything in your power to solve these problems. You make sure that you are well prepared for the negotiations and meetings. And you have regular contact with Roger, the vice president LAC, to whom you report to.

You make visit reports and have contact with internal stakeholders such as sales, supply chain and R&D.

What do you bring?

You have at least 2 years of experience in the field of procurement, also internationally. You are always aware of the latest developments and you continuously look at how these fit the LAC strategy. You are a real go-getter and will not give up until you have the information you want. You also think outside the box and come up with creative solutions if necessary, but above that walk the extra mile to get it done.

For this role we are looking for someone with a great sense of responsibility, someone who can work very well independently and who dares to make decisions. Preferably you have experience in production so you understand the processes well and can see possibilities and opportunities. You have a large network and know who to turn to if you can't work it out yourself.

You are a winner who always wants to improve him/herself and who is really keen on adding value to the company.

What else do you bring:

  • HBO working and thinking level;
  • some chemical background or interest;
  • experience with base oil and/or commodity procurement and components;
  • an excellent command of the English language, spoken and written. French and German is a plus.

Our current technical buyer wants to cut back slowly. He will, however, continue to fully train and assist you until he’s confident you can do the job.
